About me

Professionally, I write and teach about southern literature and the history of books. I also comment on various subjects connected to creative activities, teaching and learning, higher education, and university life.

Southern Fringes

My book project (currently under review), Southern Fringes: Little Magazines, Larry Brown, and How Southern Literature Happens explores how books' physical features, art or graphic design, their publication and writers’ biographies, advertisements and blurbs, publishing information, and other information outside of prose and verse all work to influence how readers interpret stories, helping to categorize these works as southern literature.
